Hello DAD Members and Friends,

It was so good to see many of you during my recent two weeks in the Dallas area. And I miss you all again. I had to return to Wisconsin again to care for my mother..

When I first walked inside the DAD Clubhouse, I was so impressed at how the floor looked with the new tiles. It certainly gives the whole bar area a much needed uplift feeling along with the new bar.

DAD is blessed to have these three very hard working guys, Preston Ashley Jr., Preston Ashley Sr., and Mitchel Bien. Imagine them on their knees, nearly everyday, removing the old tiles and getting new tiles all set. They had to be patient to make sure that the tiles fit perfectly around the poles and/or trim them to the right size, or else the tiles would chip or crack. Then they had to do the smoothing out the grouts in between the tiles.

DAD had a few guys who came and help whenever they were able to: David Normand, Kent Reneau and Chris Nicolay. Then there's Maxine Satarino, Laura Lemmon-Moore, Marianne Sasseen, Cindi Nagy, and Susan Lane who came in and cleaned, dusted, and swept after the guys completed their work before any of DAD's weekend events.

Hey, have you checked out the restroom yet? It's a JOY to walk into now and be able to feel good sitting on one of the toilets. Maybe it sounds silly to you reading this but I know that the DAD Members and friends would agree with me! Those who haven't been to DAD for a long time, COME and VISIT! And a very special thanks goes to Alfredo Gonzales who's an expert in doing compound joint and paint in the restrooms.

The renovation is still on-going. As of now, the guys could only complete the tiles in the bar area, restrooms and admission area. The guys really need help in removing the old tiles from the recreation center area. Since the money has run low, we need some more donations in order to purchase more grout bags and sealers. Donations will help to complete the recreation center area. For anyone who donate over $100 you will receive a thank you donation letter for your 2008 tax write off.

DAD almost had a couple possible winners at the previous CINGO! Some of us are already are anxious to come to the next CINGO and hope to become one of the big WINNERS. It would be a great to win some money for some Christmas shopping for one, two or three winners.

Speaking of Christmas, the Winter Holiday for the Children committee rolled up their sleeves and are getting their gears going. We had a successful party for the children last year and we are hoping for another great holiday celebration for the children again this year on December 20th. If any of you are interested in participating and/or desire to make a donation, please do contact Larry Campero. It'll be his second year as the chair of this event and his email address is pizzeria22@verizon.net.

I also want to share with you about a special upcoming event which will occur in November. I hope you will mark your calendar and plan to attend the Annual Awards Night on November 1, 2008. Marianne Sasseen, the chairperson, had succeeded in inviting Angel Ramos (formerly a Dallas resident) as a Guest Speaker, thanks to CSDVRS support. Also Brian Brizendine, from Maryland, will be the Master of Ceremonies. As you know, both are Deaf individuals. Do come, enjoy, and also praise the awardees during this evening together. Buy your advanced tickets now. Please check out the flyer: http://www.dallasdeafclub.org/pdfs/flyer_20081011-awards-night.pdf.

Please always do continue to check out our website first, before coming to DAD, for any updates and/or any rescheduling, which may occur.
